As you might have noticed this month and the following, we've been privileged to have access to GNP Crescendo's back catalogue of SF soundtracks courtesy of head honcho Neil Norman. You might see the ads around but this is really the wake-up call to splash out.

Take this one as a good instance. The collective works from 'Quantum Leap' from the first version of the opening theme to suites from three episodes and a host of tracks sang by Scott Bakula as he played Sam Beckett as he appeared as different people in his own life-time.

For a quiet-voiced person, Bakula's voice is very versatile ranging from his version of John Lennon's 'Imagine' to rock and blues with 'Blue Moon Of Kentucky' and 'Baby, Let's Play House' to light opera with 'Man From La Mancha'. The album rotates between song and instrumental making for a pleasant mix. In the days before video and DVD, such albums would be the godsend when you wanted to stir up memories of your favourite TV series and this does more than fill that gap.

There is also a twelve minute interview with Scott Bakula covering his role in 'Quantum Leap' and his involvement in New York musicals. All in all, a rather satisfying CD to add to your collection, especially if you're a fan of the series.
