Based on the covers shown at the back of the book, these adventures of Selina Kyle aka Catwoman are a year after the Infinity Crisis. Although there are hints about things I've missed, notably her killing of the villain Black Mask and a second innocent Catwoman, Holly Lenahan, being arrested for his murder, this doesn't really distract. During this time, Selena has been pregnant - as it would be a spoiler to disclose the father, you'll have to buy this book to find out who - and now has a young baby to bring up. Finding people to baby-sit when she has to go on the prowl is one of the Catwoman's major problems but as Batman isn't patrolling Gotham City yet, its left to her to deal with Film Freak whose MO is in basing his crimes off of films. To pay-off the Calculaor to wipe out Holly's criminal record, she has to go to Metropolis, invade LexCorps' basement containing Luthor's...er...inventions and steal a snow globe for him. In the meantime, Hammer and Sickle have escaped and are out for her blood although that won't be shown until the next book.
The Catwoman's status over the years has always fallen somewhere between villainess and heroine, not being much of either probably having something to do with what day of the week it is, whether you're a friend, not letting other people take the blame for her own activities even if you're not likely to admit to doing them in the first place and just being the only person up for the job. Like Batman, Catwoman doesn't have the meta-gene but she knows how to fight dirty and come out on top. I'm not altogether sure about the new Catwoman costume. To some extent, it's taken its lead (sic) from the film versions, although we've been spared the stitches and the need to be dark matches the stealth needed by a cat-burglar. Maybe it's the goggles making her look like a mad cyclist. Selena Kyle is known to be the Catwoman even if she now has a new secret identity so it makes the disguise somewhat odd.
I digress. If you've been picking up the Catwoman's adventures. Here's another one. Its an interesting read with realistic - in terms of comicbook graphics - art and characters you're left interested in what happens to them. It's certainly left me wondering what happens next and whether she'll need more than her current armaments to take on her opponents.
