You know how it is. You're planning to do some research for an article and look around to see what source material is available and find there are a couple books that slipped by in years past. By the nature of the Internet, you also discover that copies are still out there for the taking and at low prices indicating mostly that they are remainder stock. Such is the case when I came across 'The Making of Alien: Resurrection' and I'm always a sucker for behind the scenes special effects books.
The first thirty-nine pages are devoted to explaining the film's production and the remaining hundred devoted to photographs of design, manufacture and final result for the two spaceships, the Auriga and the Betty, and the various aliens and various sets and weaponry. A real pot pouri of visual information that would no doubt help any modeller for any home project as well as the film enthusiast who just likes to see how thing are done.
Far be it for me to encourage book-sellers to raise the price of such books, but if you have an interest in the 'Alien' franchise and missed these, then its worth shelling out such a small price to ensure you own a copy. I mean, outside of the DVDs where else can you get a physical record to peruse and study?
Have I found the information I need for my article. That you'll have to wait and see. I'm doing some rather odd research for this particular angle but I didn't want to let my own find go untouched with remarking that this book is still out there, an interesting read and loaded with more photos than an alien mouth has nashers.
