Arcana are a small independent comic label, started in 2004. They've produced some solid work such as 'Kade' and 'Ezra'.

'100 Girls' is a story about Sylvia, a young girl feeling confused about herself. Like any good comic book story, it's not just her teenage-hood that's doing it. It turns out Sylvia is one of a hundred clones bred by a genetics experiment and that each of the hundred girls has a different super-power.

Now the authorities are closing in on where she lives with her adoptive parents. Sylvia escapes and meets a few of her fellow clones and finds the incredible fact that she can literally absorb their powers and personalities. She sets out across the country to collect them all!

This combination of a number of different ideas works and the script by Adam Gallardo is snappy and exciting, with some great dialogue and humour. The art by Todd Demong is very cartoony and caricatured, but it works well with the teen angst of the main character.

This was my favourite of the comics I've received from Arcana and the twist that she has to collect all her fellow clones and their powers is the kind of plot gimmick that keeps on giving. I expect many people will enjoy '100 Girls' a lot.
