'Farscape Classics Volume Three' again features the score from two episodes. The reason both of these episode scores are together is largely because they focus on Aeryn Sun and features her theme and if anything, rather sedate in texture. The only other character to get such treatment was Scorpius.
'The Choice' is the episode where Moya is stuck in a time warp and because Aeryn Sun went down to the surface of the planet lives out her life. Composer Guy Gross in the notes says this was the only episode where he composed themes for a member of the crew. Considering that it covers Aeryn Sun's life this is very appropriate. The music is very solemn and sedate but totally captivating as it slowly gets under your skin and holds you to the end.
'The Locket' is the episode where Aeryn Sun comes to grip with her loss of the Crichton duplicate and learns of her mother's love for her enough to kill her father. Life in the Peacekeepers was never easy. Once past the opening theme music, Gross' carries this music in a low key and although there are sixteen tracks, they blend together so effortlessly you would think you were hearing an orchestral movement.
The eight page notebook with this CD describes with information from composer Guy Gross and comments from actress Claudia Black about the episodes and what the music was supposed to convey.
Both scores are actually very effective on their own and need to be listened to more than once to take everything in.
