I presume this is the first volume of original score music from the NBC series 'Heroes' as the CD only covers the music from the first season. The title music has surely got to be one of the quickest I've heard at 14 seconds even if it does peter off half-way through. Blink and you might miss it. The next seven tracks are the theme tracks for Peter, Claire, Hiro, HRG, Mohinder and a combined one for Jessica/Niki/Gina. The last two tracks focus on the music from the final episode.

If you thought you couldn't remember the music in the series, then this album reveals its pretty laid back incidental music. It doesn't really draw that much attention to itself other than to set the tone. It doesn't stand out and thump the hell out of you or you can hum later neither.

I've commented in the past that it's always a nice touch to see the composers with the music. Although its not identified which is Lisa Coleman and which is Wendy Melvoin on the interior back cover bur one of the composers' faces is hidden directly behind the CD grip. A little more thinking about that next time please as it sorta defeats the object. There is also an eight page booklet features notes and photos of some of the cast.

I have some mixed feelings about this CD. I'm sure the 'Heroes' fans will buy it simply as part of the show. It probably makes better for repeat listening and probably late in the evening where its echo resonances will send a chill down your spine as you wait for Sylar to open your skull. Whether you would buy it for any other reason will have to be down to your own judgement.
