Alicia's boyfriend has finally accepted that she is a witch and the happy couple plan to wed. Will James stick with Alicia despite her talking cats, the occasional demonic possession and the possible end of times? Will he survive meeting his four hundred year old zombie in-laws?

This little novel reads like a collection of anecdotes chronicling a year in the life of Alicia. Using a number of literary styles, first time novelist Heather Parker succeeds in giving the book the feel of an old journal. It's a glimpse of someone else's life, rich in detail and full of adventure. From the very first page I was hooked and didn't stop reading until I was done.

For all its supernatural problems, 'Middlewitch' sounds restful when compared to our modern, urban life. Since I can't realistically move there, I'll have to wait for the next instalment of tales about its resident witch, Alicia.
