Just when you thought it safe to wander the American highways, the Winchester boys, Dean and Sam, are back and this episode guide fills you in with their adventures. One thing they couldn't do anything about was the writers' strike which took a few episodes out of the schedule. On the other hand, this year's Companion book uses this as an opportunity to look a bit deeper at what scares cast and production team.
Makes a hasty note that the American wildlife of black widow spiders and water moccasins (aka the cottonmouth snake) aren't ones to be played with. There's also a look at some of the Supernatural merchandise although I hope in future a few more pictures are shown than description.
As I've frequently commented about the Titan Book range of these Companion books is that they're a great way to gen up on your favourite shows and a ready reference for cross-checking later. With 'Supernatural', apart from the episode guide, there is also a music list so if you're wondering what the tracks are, it makes it easier to name the titles.
There is also a lot of background information covering how they turned Canada into America, especially the more isolated places. I mean did you know that many of the roadways are recorded on an old military base with a bit of mist? You also get a chance to look at photographs of inside the Impala boot at the Winchester armoury and the demon shooting cult. Did I say there were lots of photos?
Don't forget the dozen pages of colour photographs which I'm happy to say includes production design and a couple of Ruby and Bella. Obviously, actors Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki are the selling point to the ladies in the audience but there is something for the male of the species here as well. Creatures looking for colour photos of their brethren will be disappointed however.
If you're looking for your annual 'Supernatural' fix then this is the book for you. If you own the earlier two volumes then you know what to expect. The cover picture of the book included here doesn't do justice to the contents and as Sam's look should convince you, you need to look inside. Watch out for demons with white eyes this year.
