'Men Of The Otherworld' has previously been published for free access on www.kelleyarmstrong.com. Kelley Armstrong has been keen to allow these stories to be read to supply background details to her novels. This book concentrates on the werewolf pack.

The stories which are episodic look variously on the origins of the child Jeremy Danvers who becomes the leader of the werewolf pack and his relationships with other pack members. The important thing to note about Jeremy is that he does not fulfil the criteria of pack leader and these stories go some way to explain why he is who is he is. Several stories look at the difficult relationship of Jeremy and his rogue father, Malcolm, and who Jeremy’s mother was.

In ‘Savage’, we meet Clayton, a major character in several of Armstrong’s novels. He is a willing victim of the werewolf, as he is so desperate to escape from his current life. Thereafter we look at Clayton’s progression and his father-son relationship with Jeremy as he is gradually integrated into the pack.

Armstrong has been generous with these stories and they are thought through in much the same way that the novels have been. Although they are short stories, they feel quite a reasonable length and the overall effect is like a short novel. I’m sure there are plenty to add to this collection currently sitting in Armstrong’s brain so I expect they will be continue to be released onto the website and into the wild.

Although these stories are not essential to the enjoyment of the standalone novels they are evidence of a comprehensive back-story for Armstrong’s characters. This book is evidence a commitment to the reader and to her own skill in creating them.

The profits of this book go to the charity World Literature of Canada.
