If the name John Debney sounds familiar then you're probably associating him with scoring the recent 'Iron Man 2' movie as well as 'Sin City' and 'The Relic' within our genre. With the new 'Predators' film, he comments in the notes that it would be impossible to score the film without using some of Alan Silvestri's original score from the original two films. Indeed, you can hear it throughout this soundtrack CD. He probably made the right choice cos a 'Predator' film without those haunted horns and drumbeat would definitely feel wrong. The embellishments into the other tracks obviously indicate where the predator hunters are around and when one of the humans hit the dust or jungle foliage depending where they are. Listening to the film without seeing the film first, I'm having to use my imagination to figure that out.

As soundtracks go when put on CD, the tracks move effortlessly from one to the next and is actually very good background music and don't jar the senses. OK, I was a little nervous when the three laser lights were trying to zero in on me but when the hunters realised it was me, they backed off as they normally do. Hopefully, the film itself is complemented by this soundtrack to make it interesting to watch.

I should point out that there is a twenty page colour booklet with the CD with information from producers and director as well as Debney himself. The photographs from the film are mostly of the cast posing with weapons and rarely of the stars of the film themselves. Then again, they were probably polishing their trophies at the time. They do have a busy schedule, after all. If you enjoy the 'Predator' films, then you'll enjoy this one. If it gets a massive following, then hopefully there might even be a re-issue of Silvestri's first film soundtrack so you can play them all one after the other and terrify your neighbours.
