‘All About Emily’ is basically a take on the film, ‘All About Eve’, where a ‘fan’ starts to take over the actor’s life she follows and gets involved in her career. The different here is that this is an ‘artificial’ or android with a fixation on wanting to be a member of the Rockettes and with her designer out of the country, gets the technicians to re-design her body from a child appearance to an adult.

Oddly, her mentor, acting legend Claire Havilland, initially seeing her as a threat to human actors is appalled at her racism treatment she receives and ultimately tries to do the right thing and ensure she is allowed to perform.

This is at most a novelette set in first person and set sometime in the future, writer Connie Willis has some fun with name-dropping and such which makes for a fun and thought-provoking read. All power to the androids.
