‘In The Lion's Mouth’ continues Michael Flynn’s preference for words and character interaction than plot. It was about a third of the way through the book, all right, page 136, where the key plot element is revealed that someone secret is to be killed. Only not only doesn’t the assassin Donovan isn’t told who, nether are we. Then you wonder why should you care?
As with the other two books in this series, I don’t think Flynn really cares but I’m not sure if the reader should feel that way, so this type of book depends more on your love of words than plot. I’m still at a loss as to whether this book should be classed as Science Fiction because none of the elements associated with it are there and would work just as well as fantasy. I’m still wondering if I wasn’t actually reading a fantasy.
A book for the bewildered.
