or Alternative Reality Convergence Theory And Practice - a supposition by: GF Willmetts. The Quantum Leap Project experimental device was built by Nobel Prize winner Doctor Samuel Beckett between 1989-1995 to project one individual back across his or her own life-time.

Considering that the use of this device even for such a short range cost $2.4 billion per annum, extending the range beyond that was thought unnecessary to prove the device could work. Beckett’s proposition was to transpose himself with younger versions of himself so as not to damage the time-line.

It should be pointed out that the first use of the Quantum Leap device was without the authorisation of its military commander, Admiral Albert Calavicci, although this permission was given retrospectively under the lines of, ‘To do otherwise now would not stop the Project’s operation’ not to mention proving it did work.



However, there was a fault in its operation and as a consequence, Beckett was transposed with other people in the past, seemingly disturbing their individual time-lines and unable to ‘jump’ until their personal problem were resolved. The extensive datafiles held by the Quantum Leap computer enabled Calavicci projected into the past as a hologram to advise Beckett as to what he should to do. It should be pointed out that this information nor the solution was not always correct and there was usually more than one life-line at stake with any changes made. There was no indication as to what governed the choice of host although the theory that these were the nexus for most significant change with least overall damage is suspected.

As far as the people in the past are concerned, Beckett is the person he’s transposed with. Looking in a mirror, he can see who the local inhabitants think he is and wears that person’s clothes. Considering the various people come in all shapes, sizes, gender and close species, the rationale for this has not been fully explained. They themselves are transposed into the Quantum Leap Waiting Room wearing his clean greens and presumably have no memory of the transfer when they are returned other than the events Beckett has restored to their time-line.

For all intents and purpose there, they appear to look like Beckett except their mannerisms and behaviour is not that of the scientist. In the present, there has been some caution expressed in examining any of these people still living too closely lest Beckett’s restoration of their time-line initiates a further transfer into their body space to correct any tampering (see the James Lamatta file – the only person Beckett twice transposed with). It should be pointed out that Beckett has only returned to eight years near the present on one occasion which was two years before the Project began. It has been hypothesised that this limit is where Beckett originally began work on the Project in detail.

Too close to the present could jeopardise the Project’s own creation in a similar situation as going into the past and killing your own grandfather and wiping out your own existence.

Whether it was a fault in the initial transfer, the transposition or plain disorientation, Beckett suffers some severe memory loss at each destination. As such and with the immediate predicament he is in, Beckett has been unable to supply any information to Calavicci to adjust the Quantum Leap apparatus to return himself home to the present time.

In the second year, Calavicci at a finance meeting saw its chairperson change into someone else before his eyes and the funding for the Quantum Leap Project to be continued until Beckett’s return. This brought a different dilemma that Calavicci kept mostly to himself although recorded in a personal file. Beckett doesn’t just restore the past to what it should have been but appears to improve the status of the people he transposes with. Present day reality was not stable.

Although Calavicci was immune to this particular change as he had been co-existing in two time zones, the computer has noted that the Admiral’s own past appears to have had two divergences himself, recording him as being part of the Apollo Moon Missions and as a Prisoner Of War at the same time. It is believed that this quantum split was a result of the same effect with the chairperson. Even if Calavicci was not tuned into Beckett’s brain-pattern so he could be seen in the past, it was decided that no one should replace him to minimise other such divergences.

There is a record that Calavicci was temporarily replaced by Edward St.John V when Beckett hosted a younger Calavicci and briefly changed the future affecting the admiral himself. It should also be pointed out that four years later, when Beckett could no longer be located, that it was discovered that Calavicci himself was no longer associated with the Project nor, as a happily married man, have any memory of it himself. Any changes to Calavicci might well have been left to the appropriate event which would not affect Beckett’s involvement. Beckett, it appears is the only constant from the present. Anyone and any event is subject to any change he does in the past.

However, this information came much later. Calavicci’s information did appear to confirm that Beckett might truly be making quantum leaps across alternative realities and his manifestation in the past to be realigning events into a single time-line. Evidence of this presented itself when he twice encountered his antithesis, Alia, and her hologram boss, Zoey, who appeared to be undoing Beckett’s work to preserve their own future time-line. Beckett’s actions with their first encounter ensured that their time-lines were either absorbed or diverged sufficiently so as not to cross each other again or so he thought.

A second encounter ultimately removed their time-line completely although, whether as a jumper, Alia survived this herself is uncertain. Being outside of that time-line’s collapse, she may well be lost in what constitutes our own time-line as well and without their apparatus unable to jump.

Again, it should also be pointed out that when Beckett removed Calavicci from his own time-line, he fundamentally changed the present and released himself from the Quantum Leap device and could freely move correcting time-line alternatives unaided by also being displaced totally from current reality. Whether his memory was completely restored or he had delusions of that reality is still undetermined.

As mentioned above, it has been widely hypothesised that a time traveller could by his or her own actions in the past wipe out the means that caused the time travel device to be created in the first place. As such, this is very much akin to the ‘killing your own grandfather, where do I come from’ scenario where the traveller is now outside of current time-line protocols. The only objective Beckett could achieve was to ensure the time-line continues, based on his experiences of getting it right so far. With no memory of how to re-build the Quantum Leap device, it is assumed Beckett cannot resume his life in the present and can never go home.

With no one in the Quantum Leap Waiting Room, all current knowledge of the Project has been collected from various people who have sent letters alleging such a Project succeeded and to be Samuel Beckett. With no public knowledge, this information on the insistence of one Sammy-Jo Fuller is regarded to be true and not that of neurotics or those seeking celebrity. There could be no other explanation as to Fuller or these other people would have the security clearance to know the address of the Quantum Leap Project. Without this fragmented information, we would have been unable to prepare this report.

What remains of the Quantum Leap Project in the present has now been terminated and regarded as a failure with no further attempt has been made to project another man into the past lest it upsets Beckett’s work there in bringing the time-line’s alternatives together. Any further attempts to time travel by a similar method to be discouraged just in case Zoey and Alia came from our future with the intent to change past events. To do otherwise would jeopardise our own present more than it is at this time.
