About 15 months back, I reviewed the video version of Tomorrow People's season one. As Fremantle are no longer doing video releases and I was finding the voice-overs interesting, I persuaded them to send me the DVD editions I'd missed. This boxset arrived which is cheaper a third cheaper than buying the individual volumes.

All three have voice-over commentaries from Nick Young, Peter Vaughn-Clarke and the now late Philip Gilbert. Granted the voice of Tim let the 'youngsters' do most of the chatting, he did contribute or clarify some details even if it looks like they'll be carrying the can about the shenanigans (you might want to change the 'n' in that last word to a 'g') that went on behind the scenes.

If anything, I think Philip Gilbert was wallowing in the past watching here so a good time to remind you to watch this series with uninterrupted dialogue as well.

Don't forget, the success of 'The Tomorrow People' spawned a generation of other SF series on ITV including 'Timeslip', 'Sky' and 'Ace Of Wands'. We were really spoilt compared to what the kids have today. Even the non-genre series like 'The Freewheelers' and 'Follyfoot' were must watch programmes. It is a shame that so few have survived but I'm glad it included 'The Tomorrow People'.

From the information given here, 'The Tomorrow People' was really pathfinding its way with what could and didn't work and learning along the way. I've given information about the stories elsewhere, so link into them. This is more of a reminder that if you want to visit your youth or show your kids what you watched when young, then this is still a good buy and shouldn't be missed.
