It's very weird watching these episodes again. Mostly cos my memory of them from TV view is still pretty strong from a few years ago. This was also a season that through messing up, I missed a couple early episodes as well. Being able to get these boxsets at such a reasonable price is also a good reason to upgrade if you originally taped off the TV like me. Unlike my recollections of Season One, there aren't any surprises here. Come to that no extras either although they do start with Season Three so you can guess where I'm going after this.



Anyway, Season Two gets into gear introducing the Tok'ra and getting Sam Carter's dying father to become host to their more benevolent Goa'uld and becoming an instantly re-occurring character that readers should be able to associate with cos he comes from Earth.

There's also the assorted missions featuring other Goa'uld encounters and assorted human and odd alien encounters, especially with the Asgard. One of the highlight episodes is '1969' when by the action of sunspot activity, the SG-1 team arrive in the past and have to get familiar with the time period and use the then unused Stargate to return to the present.

Despite a couple pre-determined set-ups in the temporal loop, this story is nicely made. So, too, is an earlier episode, 'Holiday', where personalities experience a body swap allowing the actors to act outside of their normal personas with some interesting results. Shame they didn't go far enough to have the male actors playing Sam but there you go.

The longevity of the 'Stargate SG-1' TV series probably stems from the blending of current day reality to the fantastic out in the galaxy or the next, if you happen to visit the Asgard. There is enough variety not to get caught out in technobabble and enough SF to satisfy both the SF fans and standard TV viewers alike depending on how much you dabble with it. At these prices, if you haven't seen this series, then this is a good way and price to get them at.
