Of the Perseverance Records CDs reviewed this month, this is one film I haven't seen, so I thought it more of a challenge to see if I liked the music when I didn't recognise the cues or beats from the film. Mind you, when the 12 page accompanying booklet describes the alien as looking phallic with teeth, I don't think even anyone is taking this horror film totally seriously, especially when you read the titles list. The music which is a mixture of electronic - for the alien? - and even light jazz which for the most part is quite interesting background music when toiling away at the word processor. It won't scare the heebeegeebees out of you but isn't a total distraction neither. In many respects, it's also a strong reminder that just cos films are made on cheap budgets doesn't mean the people involved don't do second-best material just do the best they can under the circumstances. Often as not, the music is used to carry the film and often tends to be very good, like this one.

This film came out in 1983 and was Michael Perilstein's third film score. Looking at the list of other films he's done. Perilstein looks like he's made a decent niche amongst the cult films which also means there should be enough of you out there to collect his work, especially as another one is coming our from this company. I should also point there's also interviews with Perilstein and John Dodds, the co-writer/special effects director as well as photos from the film in the booklet.

No doubt if you're a fan of the film you'll pick this CD up. If you get hooked to buying off of Perseverance Records, you'll probably add this one to your set.
