With Stargate SG-1, Season Three is where production settles down and knows they are there for the long haul and expand beyond the Goa'uld with the problems affecting the Asgard and those deadly Replicators. There is also a mixture of other planets investigated and a resolution to the human renegades stealing alien technology. In some respects though, I still wonder why they thought O'Neill could be so easily persuaded to come over to their side but does tidy up a loose end even if it could have been exploited a lot more with a little more though. There was also some progression regarding alternative realities again and hitting notes that were successful previously without copying themselves. The Tok'ra and the Asgard find humans have their uses coming from a lower-tech world. O'Neill is also developing a reputation for killing off deadly Goa'uld by bumping off Hathor. There is also a balance between finding friendly and adversarial worlds. After the episode 'New Grounds', you'd have thought more thought might have been to carry concealed lockpicks or something to get out of cells but maybe I'm a little more sneaky than they are.

Finally, with this season of 'Stargate SG-1' we finally get to seeing some extras with profiles of the lead cast and the series design, even if some scenes shown were from the next season. Actor Rick Anderson is there for some of the intros but seems subdued until you see the out-takes and realise he couldn't say a straight line to save his life.

One of the oddest things about watching Season Three again is how clearly remembered many of the episodes were when I watched them originally on television the first time around. At the reduced price you can pick these seasons up, now is as good as anytime to add these to your collection.
