Shirley MacLaine, Perry King and Michael Horden appear in this DVD release of the 1972 movie 'The Possession Of Joel Delaney'. Basically, the film is dated in conception and delivery. It's the tired old cliché stuff of someone being possessed by an evil spirit, carrying out horrible acts and then been killed. However, as you would expect, the evil spirit is passed on to someone else for the whole rigmarole to carry on at some future time.
Sorry, but I don't think this should have been released again on DVD. I think there's something wrong with a film that depicts children being brutalised, including a boy being made to dance naked and a young girl being made to eat cat food and having her throat partially cut with a knife.
It's disturbing stuff. It has appeal only to perverts. On the TV news, there is enough violent murder to go around and we don't need to watch any more of it. Although this has been given a 15 certificate, I think the contents are worse than this. I would suggest to Network that they have another look at this DVD and seriously think about taking it off the market.
This deserves no further comment.
