Believe it or not, I must have been having a bad day when I saw and bought this, not realising my mistake until I started watching and realising that it wasn't recapping the first film at the start of the second film but was the first film. That's when I switched into review mode to see what were the differences between this and the original version I watched a couple years ago.

If you've seen the film then I won't need to repeat much about its plot here. Mostly, it's a revision of how the Fantastic Four got their powers, working through the desire to lose them again and getting into a fight with Victor Von Doom.

Everything seemed the same until after the accident and bridge. Then the touches started to fill in, mostly surrounding the Thing and his relationship with Alicia Masters, leading up to a beautiful scene at an art gallery showing off her models of the rock heavy member with something resembling a scene from the original comics. Much of these extras were mostly little touches yet in many respects they added more heart to the film and actually made it better.

The extra on this single DVD is a look at the history of the Silver Surfer to prep you for the second film.

Although I might not pay full whack for a copy, getting it off the cheap racks should be considered a worthwhile endeavour and then you can decide which is the better edition. I think you could be in for a surprise. They should have done this as the first release.
