Iain has just laid his pen down on his latest science fiction work.

We were chatting with the author Iain Banks today in the wilds of Scotland, and he mentioned the following tit-bit of gossip for all you SFcrowsnest fans of his excellent works.

"The next Iain M. is called 'The Algebraist' and I've just finished working on it. Due to be published in October. Very long - a tad more than 'Consider Phlebas' - fiendishly complicated, but definitely space opera of the wide-screen baroque persuasion, full of weird aliens and arguably weirder humans. Not a Culture novel, though still scoring high on the Just Generally Spiffing index, I'd hazard to claim."

Thanks Iain. Rest assured, we'll be saving our pocket money evey week until it comes out in hardback, here at the 'Nest.
