Fullmetal Alchemist 2 Curse Of The Crimson Elixir, is coming to a Playstation near you soon.

Square Enix, Inc., the publisher of Square Enix interactive entertainment products in North America, announced today that Fullmetal Alchemist 2: Curse Of The Crimson Elixir will ship to retailers nationwide on July 12, 2005.

This RPG prequel to Fullmetal Alchemist And The Broken Angel is the second installment in the Fullmetal series.

Exclusively for the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system, Fullmetal Alchemist 2 follows the story in the anime series, which airs on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim programming.

"The new story and enhanced gameplay of Fullmetal Alchemist 2 will appeal to devoted fans and newcomers alike," said Ichiro Otobe, president and COO of Square Enix, Inc. "Through the game, players explore completely new elements of the story not found in the anime series. And the new attacks and combos take the adventure to a higher level. Enhanced visual style, speed and voiceovers improve upon the original title, making Fullmetal Alchemist 2 a truly enjoyable game."

Fullmetal Alchemist 2 begins in Lior, the desert city that the Elric brothers, Edward and Alphonse encounter in the first episode of the anime series. Just as the brothers are unveiling the secrets of a cult called Leto, they engage in a battle with creatures from the unknown. Immediately after this, they encounter a mysterious woman who hands the brothers a ring and then disappears without a trace.

Key features of Fullmetal Alchemist 2 include an enhanced alchemy system, cel-shaded graphics and nearly 30 minutes of animated cut-scenes created specifically for the game. In addition, a bonus DVD features an advance look at the first two episodes of season 2, which airs in the Fall of 2005. Complete episodes included are #27 "Teacher" and #28 "One is All, All is One."

Based on the Japanese anime and manga series, Fullmetal Alchemist made its way to America, beginning with episodic programming on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. The series spans 51 episodes.

There's a DVD release of Volume 4 scheduled for July 26th 2005.

Fullmetal Alchemist 2: Curse Of The Crimson Elixir has a suggested retail price of U.S. $39.99 and is rated "T" (Teen).
