Most SFcrowsnest staff check in okay after what looks like a wave of bombings on various London underground network stations, train stations and buses. Attack timed for G8 Summit and Olympic win.
Scary stuff in London at the moment, but most of the London staff of SFcrowsnest have reported in okay after what appears to be a major terror strike on the UK's capital city.
A bomb has reportedly destroyed a bus in Russell Square, while other explosions have been heard at tube stations on the London subway system including Aldgate, Edgware Road, King's Cross, Old Street and Russell Square.
From where I am sitting in my office all I can hear are the screams of ambulance units and police car sirens rushing past towards the Square Mile.
The entire underground system is currently shut, as are all overground rail connections. In scenes reminiscent of September 11th, some of my friends have phoned in with tales of soot-covered passengers walking around stunned outside King's Cross.
British Transport Police have just confirmed on the radio that there are walking wounded. More news as it arrives.
Update: 11.30am - Police have rung our reception and asked all staff to stay inside and lock the doors to non-staff pending an evacuation order. With no trains, buses or tubes, that could be hard.
Update: 12.00am - Managed to grab some lunch. Soldiers with guns outside the local tube station, something I never thought I would see in this country outside of a war movie. (mini-update: talked to the soldiers - they are here for the VE Day celebrations, rather than deployed against terrorists. Bloody ironic).
Some train stations in South London are said to be still working - albeit with lots of police and troops guarding them - so I will be leaving shortly to try to get home. Looks like no work tomorrow.
Just heard from someone's whose husband is missing at King's Cross. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Jeniffer.
As to the scum that did this - fuck the lot of you - this beautiful green nation and our values of freedom and decency will still be here after your insane death cult has gone the way of the worship of old Atargatis in ancient Syria.
