British fantasy author Adam Nevill has joined the John Jarrold Literary Agency.

Adam is the author of the highly-praised novel BANQUET FOR THE DAMNED, published by PS in 2004, which as been favourably compared with the ghost writings of M R James and has received stunning reviews in the UK and the US. His short story WHERE ANGELS COME IN has recently been selected for both The Year's Best Fantasy and Horror, edited by Ellen Datlow, and The Mammoth Book of Best New Horror 17, edited by Stephen Jones.

Having received a BA Hons in English Literature at University College Worcester, Adam worked in broadcast TV for eight years before returning to St Andrews University (the later setting of his novel) where he received at MLitt in Creative Writing. He presently works as a commissioning editor for a London publisher, overseeing more than seventy novels a year.

'With strong commercial sensibilities, it is my intention to keep producing considered fiction to both thrill and terrify a reader. Fiction that is a seamless combination of both popular and literary styles. And stories that are contemporary, but constructed with the skill of the past masters who I have studied for so long - to reach a sublime of terror. One that frightens but never repulses,' says Adam about his writing.

John Jarrold said, 'Adam Nevill is the best, most interesting new writer in the tradition of M R James I've seen in many years. As a fan of James, Algernon Blackwood and other masters of supernatural fiction for over forty years, I'm delighted to be representing the latest in a long line of brilliant practitioners of the form. And he tells a damn good story.'
