When the 2006 World Fantasy Award Nominees were announced earlier this month, science fiction publisher Prometheus Books said they were pleased to see that three of the six people nominated in the category Special Award: Professional were affiliated with their press.
The World Fantasy Awards will be presented November 2nd-5th 2006 at the World Fantasy Convention in Austin, TX.
Pyr author Chris Roberson is also nominated in the professional category, along with Allison Baker, for his work as a publisher (MonkeyBrain Books.) Roberson is the author of Paragaea and Here, There & Everywhere. Roberson is also nominated in the Anthology category for editing the book Adventure Vol. 1 (MonkeyBrain.)
Prometheus Books author S. T. Joshi for his role co-editing Supernatural Literature of the World: An Encyclopedia, Greenwood Press.) Prometheus Books has published four of Joshi's edited and authored books, with two more forthcoming. In September 2006, we'll publish The Angry Right: Why Conservatives Keep Getting It Wrong, which has already been featured on the national Air America radio program "The Al Franken Show." In 2007, Prometheus Books will publish Joshi's The Agnostic Reader.
Lou Anders, editorial director of our science fiction and fantasy imprint Pyr, is nominated for editing at Pyr. Since his is the only nomination that directly acknowledges the quality of Pyr, they may secretly be rooting for his win, though they´ll just as be proud and pleased to see Roberson or Joshi take the honour.
Pyr celebrated its one-year anniversary in 2006.
