It had to happen. Here comes a paid-for science fiction podcast called MechMuse.

MechMuse is a new class of content provider, an audio magazine.

MechMuse aims to publish short stories, serialised novels, columns and interviews in audio format. Each monthly issue will include between ten and fifteen hours of SciFi and Fantasy content, for download into an iPod or other portable audio device.

Short stories are drawn from new and established authors, while novels have all been contributed by name authors. MechMuse's March issue (available at on Feb. 15th 2006) will feature the short story "After a Lean Winter" and the audio novel "On My Way to Paradise" both by David Farland. March's issue will feature works by Kevin J. Anderson.

A MechMuse subscription costs $5 per month, or $25 for six months.
