BL Publishing, Games Workshop's in-house publisher of science fiction and fantasy, have announced the launch of Solaris - a new book imprint being set up to produce original science fiction and fantasy novels.
Solaris will debut in Spring 2007. It will commence with a range of science fiction and fantasy titles, from both established and new authors. The range will be distributed to the US booktrade via Simon & Schuster, and the UK and Export booktrade via Hachette Books.
The stated ethos of Solaris is to bring a mix of new and traditional science fiction and fantasy novels and anthologies to the mass market. It also aims to fill the ever-widening gap that has appeared between the large mass-market publishers and the small genre press in the American and British markets.
BL Publishing is the parent company of The Black Library, the publishing wing of international games firm Games Workshop Group PLC. They have sold three million novels worldwide to date. Established nine years ago, they have also published a number of film tie-in titles in association with New Line Cinema and other partners.
The Publisher of Solaris is Marc Gascoigne, assisted by Consultant Editor George Mann, and Editors Christian Dunn and Mark Newton. Marketing is handled by Mike Ball.
The Editors are currently not accepting unsolicited submissions. Agents and previously published authors should approach by telephone or email in the first instance.
