Sam Neill and Eric Stoltz star in a new BBC science fiction mini-series that follows a group of professionals investigating the dangerous truths behind one of the greatest legends of our time, the Bermuda Triangle. Shades of Lost, anyone.
Billionaire Eric Benirall owns one of the largest shipping companies in USA. Over the last year, six large cargo ships and their crews have disappeared without a trace in the area known as the Bermuda Triangle. Following an incident in which only seven crew members make it home and tell of a strange encounter in the fog with Christopher Columbus's naval fleet, Eric decides to shed some light on this dark mystery.
He hand-picks a team of experts, who includes sceptical tabloid journalist Howard Thomas, ocean resource engineer Emily Patterson, scientist Bruce Geller and psychic Stan Lathem. Promised a head-spinning reward of £5m dollars each for their research, the bemused team sets out to solve this most daunting of mysteries. But when a jetliner disappears over the Triangle and a young girl is the only survivor, bizarre, inexplicable occurrences begin to affect each member of Benirall's team.
Elsewhere, Greenpeace activist Meeno Paloma experiences the Triangle's lethal forces while on an expedition. Back from hospital and unable to recognise his youngest son, his life is never to be the same again.
Sam Neill plays Eric Benirall, Eric Stoltz plays Howard Thomas, Catherine Bell plays Emily Patterson, Michael Rodgers plays Bruce Geller, Bruce Davison plays Stan Lathem and Lou Diamond Phillips plays Meeno Paloma.
The Triangle will air on BBC TV during the week 27 May-2 June 2006.
