Benedict Cumberbatch and Robert Carlyle head an cast in a near-future scifi thriller - shades of V for Vendetta - about a man whose search for the truth about his brother's death catapults him into an international conspiracy - and a passionate love affair.

Authored by Peter Berry (Prime Suspect 6, Kiszko - A Life For A Life), The Last Enemy co-stars Max Beesley, Anamaria Marinca, David Harewood and Geraldine James.

When the reclusive Stephen Ezard (Cumberbatch) returns to London for the funeral of his brother Michael (Beesley), an aid worker killed by a landmine, he feels like a stranger in his own country. The future Britain has been transformed into a security state after a nuclear terrorist attack and ID cards are strictly enforced.

He is startled to discover that Michael had a beautiful wife, Yasim (Marinca), and seeks comfort in her arms. But Yasim is on a mission of her own. Terrified of losing her, Stephen agrees to support a secretive government project - but his actions trigger a spiral of strange events.

Kidnapped by a violent man, wooed by an old lover with friends in high places and followed at every turn, Stephen doesn't know who he can trust. But he becomes determined to find out what really happened to Michael ... even at the risk of losing his own identity.
