Debbie Gallagher's debut novel, The Spider's Bride, is coming from Prime US at the end of October 2007.

You'll be able to buy it at the World Fantasycon, or via Amazon on both sides of the Atlantic, as well as in bookstores...

It begins with a severed finger. It begins with a gift in Winter...

Not realising that she is being courted by a faery suitor, our heroine (called 'The Bride,') enters the cold and sparkling world of the Prince of Spiders. She takes the severed finger, unaware that such gifts carry consequences, and finds herself trapped in the Hedge. The folk of the Hedge have many faces. Some are ancient elves, some are animals, some are dolls, some are scraps of rubbish, discarded objects from the mortal world, sparkling by candlelight, sharp toothed in darkness.

The Prince of Spiders rules this land of dreams, lost in glittering snow. As a Winter King, he should end his reign by dying at the coming of Spring. Until now he has delayed this by offering the blood of artists and poets to the ancient spirits of the land, eking out his season long beyond its time. But he has a more daring plan in his heart . . .a plan that is thwarted by the disappearance of his human bride.

The Hunter, cousin to the Prince, is rebel and hero, wolf and wolf spider. It is he who kidnaps the Bride and the story follows their frantic journey as the realms of real and unreal begin to fold in around them. It is the way of faery to play tricks with time and space, and there are magics here beyond their powers to guess…

Debbie Gallagher has previously written for 2000AD's Slaine and DC Comics' Batman Book of Shadows, as well as working in TV production and Role-Playing Games. The Spider's Bride is her debut novel.
