Angry Robot, HarperCollins new guerilla-indy sci-fi imprint, has hired Lee Harris as assistant editor. He starts work January 2009.
Lee is perhaps best known as the founder of Hub, a weekly short science fiction e-zine e-mailed out to ten thousand subscribers every Friday, not to mention the editor of Prism, the newsletter of the British Fantasy Society. Although Lee is stepping back from active editorial duty, Hub will still appear every Friday.
Angry Robot head honcho Marc Gascoigne told SFcrowsnest.com, "Lee's one of those rare individuals who are so driven by their love of science fiction they've gone beyond just reading and discussing the stuff. Establishing a weekly magazine and running it without fail for years is the mark of a dedicated, energetic guy… maybe just a little bit crazy too. I'm truly happy to have him join us in our mission."
Lee himself noted, "I am absolutely delighted to be taking up this role. Angry Robot promises to be an exciting new publishing house. It's a great opportunity and I can't wait to get stuck in!"
Angry Robot is due to release details of its first titles, due in stores world-wide in the second half of 2009, in the next few weeks.
