Hydra Miniatures are planning a new science fiction game called War Rocket, to add some pulp sci-fi space combat action alongside their range of cute 32mm pulp SFF figures. Flash, arrhhh, he'll zap every one of us.

War Rocket's rules are being designed by Dave Pauwels and will focus on smaller spaceship missions in the style of Flash Gordon, Dan Dare and Buck Rogers. War Rocket will aim to be a mission-centered game with each player in control of no more than a dozen sparking rocketships.

3D designer Phil Beauchamp is creating the miniatures and their masters are being output using a 3D printer. Metal castings will then be made from these resin masters. The scale of the rockets is approximately 1:285 (or 6mm) and most spaceships will be one to three inches long. They'll be some larger battleships that will be 4-5 inches long.

There's four factions in development: Galacteers (Galactic Space Patrol), Imperial Forces of Marduk the Tyrant, Zenithian saucer-men, and Space Pirates/Marauders.
