Our chums on the FP blog have just heard via Andrew Wildman that the DFC comic which launched last year by David Fickling is being put up for sale by Random House.
If a buyer isn't found it will close after issue 43 is published. It's so rare for a regular new British comic to appear these days, we were all cheered when its birth was first announced and with some great talent on board (Phillip Pullman, Garen Ewing, Neill Cameron, Sarah McIntyre and many more) it was well received by adults and kids alike.
But their subscription only model of sales has meant its been harder to make it visible to kids (although it side-stepped the large costs involved in distribution to the nation's newsagents).
It's a big blow and sad news for the Brit comics community and for the kids (and adults) who read it.
