Sad news for the fans of spy-fi everywhere. Edward Woodward, star of such spy-fi TV series as The Equalizer and Callan has passed away, aged 79, today in his native Cornwall.

He also starred in horror movies such as The Wicker Man, playing the policeman hero being chased by Christopher Lee, as well as the fantasy film Merlin and the Sword (he played Merlin, of course).

Old age as well as prostate cancer finally did for him.

Goodbye, Edward, they don't make them like you anymore. The streets will feel less safe, knowing the Equalizer isn't at the end of the phone to deal with the scum of the earth.
