Fantasy horror comic The Goon is one of the comic-to-movies that is currently making the jump from graphic novel to the big screen, and lucky old SFcrowsnest, we have some of the first stills from the animated film.
Eric Powell’s The Goon has been slated as an upcoming, animated film co-produced by Mike Richardson - aka The Mask, Mr Warmth: The Don Rickles Project, Hellboy II: The Golden Army - Dark Horse Entertainment, film maker David Fincher - aka Seven, Fight Club, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - and animation company Blur Studio, Inc. (the same as the pop group).
The comic-to-movie adaptation is currently in early pre-production.
The Goon was a comic book series from Eric Powell that first saw the light of day back in 1999. The story is about the adventures of the Goon, a muscle-bound brawler who is a hitman for the mafia don Labrazio. The Goon and his comedy assistant Franky have to combat criminal zombie mafia clans under the command of the deadly Zombie Priest.
The comics were influenced by the X-files, with their tales usually featuring ghosts, ghouls, pie-eating mutant apes, extra-dimensional aliens, and crazy scientists.
