Steampunk Warehouse 13 technology is coming to iPhone users with the Farnswoth Video Communicator app. Viewers of the TV series can keep in touch with friends, family and other agents using the new app. Users will be able to exchange video and audio messages and create share their own missions in the signature interface of the steampunk communications device from the Syfy series.
After downloading from the iTunesAppStore, users can send and receive video or audio-only messages over the net, communicating securely with other agents who are also using the application. There are video messages from junior Warehouse Agent Claudia Donovan and lead Agent Artie Nielsen, who offer tips directly from the Warehouse. The app's message exchange is made possible by the QMxchange mobile messaging platform, which also allows users to install the Farnsworth Video Communicator on multiple devices and sync them together. The app is compatible with the iPhone GS and up, iPad/iPad 2 and the iPod G4.
Quantum Mechanix Inc. - QMx Interactive's sister company - which, in addition to making prop replicas, apparel, maquettes and novelties for Warehouse 13, also creates the actual Farnsworth prop seen on the TV series.
"QMx Interactive was founded on the principle that entertainment tie-in apps should offer users more than a mediocre app with the logo of their favorite shows or movies on top," said Andy Gore, CEO of Quantum Mechanix, Inc. "With the Farnsworth app, we've tried to build a genuinely powerful messaging platform that just happens to come with an awesome 'Warehouse 13' coating."
“The mystery and drama of 'Warehouse 13’ has really resonated with viewers and we think that this iPhone app is the perfect way for fans to broaden their experience with the show,” added Chris Lucero, a director at NBCUniversal Television.
