Mira Furlan does Dublin
05/06/2007. Mira Furlan, well-known to telefantasy fans from her appearances as Danielle Rousseau in the popular Lost and, of course, as Delenn in J M Straczynski’s Babylon 5 series, will be making an appearance in Ireland.

The Language of Dying
05/06/2007. John Jarrold has sold a novella by Sarah Pinborough, The Language of Dying, to Peter Crowther at PS Publishing, who plans to publish in late 2008 or very early 2009.

Sideways in Crime

Alone
05/06/2007. 24 frames has announced that it has the rights - including remake rights - to the Asian Horror Film Alone for their 24 frames extreme label. This is the second horror film from the directing duo Pisanthanakun and Wongpoom who made the movie Shutter, now undergoing a Hollywood remake by Twentieth Century Fox and Vertigo Entertainment.

Temeraire by Naomi Novik wins Locus Award for best first novel
05/06/2007. HarperCollins Voyager have announced that Temeraire (US title: His Majesty's Dragon) by Naomi Novik has won the Locus Award for best first novel as voted by readers of Locus Magazine in the annual Locus Poll.

The Principles of Angels
05/06/2007. Debut novelist Jaine Fenn has just signed a world rights deal with Jo Fletcher at Gollancz for three science fiction novels, following in the footsteps of Gollancz bestsellers like Alastair Reynolds and Richard Morgan. Jaine Fenn has had short fiction published in a variety of magazines and anthologies over the years. She is represented by the John Jarrold Literary Agency.

Wizards launches new line of SFF novels
05/06/2007. Wizards of the Coast, Inc., a subsidiary of Hasbro, has announced that beginning in 2008 the company will release a line of novels independent of any of its established shared world RPG lines.

Harry Potter World
05/06/2007. Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. and Universal Orlando Resort are partnering to create the world's first Harry Potter themed environment based on the books by J.K. Rowling and feature films from Warner Bros. Called The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, the new environment will become part of the experience within Universal's Islands of Adventure theme park at the Universal Orlando Resort.

To space, French style
05/06/2007. Astrium has unveiled a new vehicle for space tourism at an event in Paris ahead of the Le Bourget Airshow. This business jet sized vehicle is designed to carry four passengers 100 km up into space giving three minutes of zero G. Guests at the Paris event were shown a full sized mock-up of the forward section of the craft.
