Forum Fantastico [Fantastic Forum]

The national SFF con out in Portugal. They focus on Portuguese creators, from literature to graphic arts and cinema, but also have foreign guests (the likes of Christopher Priest, Paul McAuley, Nick, Sagan, Richard Morgan, Edward James, etc). Stephen Hunt will be guest of honour in 2010.

Summer of Science Fiction Reading

To celebrate the launch of the SFX Summer Of SF Reading, booksellers Waterstone’s will be presenting ‘An Evening With SFX’ at Waterstone’s Piccadilly store in London, UK on Monday 10th May 2010. Steampunk has been bubbling under for years, but now steampunk theatre and cabaret scenes are slowly establishing themselves, traditional 'goths' are replacing their eyeliner for googles, cogs and gentlemen's jackets and Solaris has just published an anthology of steampunk writing. So why has it taken so long for Steampunk to break through? Why now? And where do we think it is going?

A one day convention to showcase the best of Role playing, Wargaming, Boardgaming & Science fiction/Fantasy literature. It also features the best of Stephen Hunt - and the worst, too, if you buy him a drink or three at the bar!

Alt.Fiction 2008

The lineup for Derby's sci-fi and fantasy fiction event, Alt.Fiction, has been confirmed. This year's lineup includes authors such as Stephen Hunt, Brian Lumley, Michael Marshall Smith, Mike Carey, Charlie Stross, Graham Joyce, Ramsey Campbell, and Justina Robson among others.

Alt:Fiction 2008 takes place on Saturday 26th April 2008 at Derby Assembly Rooms, Derby, UK, and features readings, workshops and panels with some of the UK's main science-fiction, fantasy and horror writers.

Tickets for the day cost £20, or £16 concessions and can be booked from the Assembly Rooms Box Office on 01332 255800. Doors open at 11am for a 12pm start, with a 9pm close.

The Arthur C. Clarke Award Shortlist Announcement
