The Adventures of Blit Wizbok

If there is a broadband future for the internet - all shining satellite net connections and ASDN links - you can probably forget about all this static HTML page and text nonsense.

In fact, your chums at the Crowsnest'll have to buy a Silcon Graphics machine and learn how to make with Babylon Five like film experiences to keep all you science fiction fans trooping back through our virtual gates.

That future hasn't arrived yet, but here's some Quicktime movie fun that point the way to what is possible.

It's the Adventures of Blit Wizbok, a 3D alien cartoon charcter who gets into all sorts of mishaps. This site is really picking up in popularity now.

In terms of bandwidth, the site is pulling in some heavy meagbytage, as hordes of netizens turn up in search of extraterrestrial mischief (so a visit early in the morning might be advised).

Here's our favourites on the site:

Alien Song
If the Eurovision was held in Alpha Centurai, Blit Wizbok would be the alien to count on. This was the first lip-synch exercise featuring Blit Wizbok. You can find out more about it in the site's Alien Song FAQ. It's a 3.1 MB Mpeg movie.

Alien Gun
Another Blit animation, this time focusing on timing and weight. Comes as a 3.4 MB-sized Cinepak in Quicktime.
