GalaxyOnline, a science-fiction and science-fact information and entertainment site, has recently launched a new section showcasing both classic and new science-fiction stories. Located within the 'Wired Galaxy' area of the site, the "The Writer's Corner" features works of fiction, as well as essays and discussions on the craft of writing penned by well-known science-fiction authors. "In the months ahead, we plan to publish new stories and classic reprints from many of the most respected authors in science fiction," boasted Rick Wilbur, editor of The Writer's Corner. "But we're also very interested in new writers, and plan to have online areas where they can learn from the pros, sharpen their skills and perhaps get their stories published." During its first few weeks, The Writer's Corner is offering classic short story reprints from Robert Heinlein, Robert Silverberg, Harlan Ellison, Brian Aldiss, Jack McDevitt and Michael Bishop, as well as brand-new works from authors like Orson Scott Card, Spider Robinson and Bruce Holland Rogers. In addition, discussions of the writing craft from hacks like Joe Haldeman, Bishop, Ellison and GalaxyOnline.com publisher Ben Bova are also scheduled. "Look at the stories we are publishing in The Writer's Corner," noted Bova in an editorial accompanying the section's launch. "Science fiction is the best way of examining the future. It offers the entire universe of space and time as its canvas, and invites its readers--and writers--to think in terms of centuries and millennia, rather then reacting to the scares and fads of the moment." Other Galaxy content that might tickle you Nest fans includes Warped, a science-fiction sketch comedy series created exclusively for the Internet, and Fahrenheit 452: The Art Police, an original program described as "Men in Black meet Cops" starring Tim Russ (Star Trek: Voyager). You can visit them here.
