Here's a nice little game - Starships Unlimited - from a one-man band outfit, Andrew Ewanchyna, trading as Apezone. It features real-time pacing with turn-based control, combining the flow of real-time strategy games with the control of turn-based games. Besides allowing the game to be sped up or paused at anytime, the game will automatically pause when important events occur (so no more missing a battle while you're busy with other things). When a battle occurs, you decide how much control you want over your units. Manually control combat maneuvering and the firing of weapons or let your starship captains handle it. No two games are alike, as you play in randomly generated galaxies with 3 possible shapes (spiral, cluster, ring. The free downloadable demo of Starships Unlimited is restricted to one galaxy, which may be replayed endlessly with up to 100 Star Systems with 1 to 4 planets each. There's also wormholes to connect a few of the star systems. Find this game over at ... www.apezone.com
