Two biologists, each with psychological problems, specialising in DNA splicing, finds Mark, become de facto parents to the partially human creature they create in their laboratory. Vincenzo Natali directs and co-authors, but the film sadly lacks the fresh originality of his previous films. The science is more hysteria than believable. Vincenzo Natali's follow-up to the 1996 Cube is in nearly all ways a science fiction outing superior to his previous film. Brian King's screenplay make this a fast paced science fiction adventure very much of the style of Philip K. Dick. Jeremy Northam is a total nebbish who gets to lead a double (and then triple) life in the shady world of industrial espionage. A morality tale with a word of warning about getting everything you desire. Vincenzo Natali, best known for Cube and the current Splice tell the story of two boys who are the constant victims of all ages who suddenly find they have the ability to make their wishes come true. Director Natali wrote the story with the two actors who star. Some of the most serious films being made today are the comedies from Pixar Animation Studios that the whole family can enjoy. Pixar has another hit returning to the "Toy Story" franchise. In Toy Story 3 young Andy who always loved his toys is going to college and his toys are going into storage. As a last-minute reprieve they go instead to a day-care center where they can play until they break. Unfortunately that fate may not be as far away as they had hoped. The writing quality is what makes this film work as a comedy, an adventure, and a film with some serious affecting human drama. This is going to seem like an odd editorial to release at the end of the month although I actually started writing this editorial at the start of the month when all that world sports fuss on television was about to begin. The question I’m going to ask is what have you been doing this month to while away the boring sport on television? A look at the first Matt Smith tenure by GF Willmetts. As a look at the latest ‘Doctor Who’ season, I’m going to be careful about giving too many story details. If you’ve been following my comments in the SFC forum, I’ve been doing that and being careful for the past thirteen weeks anyway. Wiring for lights by: GF Willmetts. With all model-making, there’s a level of preparation, so let’s start off with what you need. If you’re just reading first, don’t feel intimidated by what’s needed as things like equipment would be used in other model-making and can be bought relatively cheaply. If anything, its the model kit that is the major expense.

NEWS
Earth's been near destroyed by pesky alien invaders, so what you going to do? How about re-float an ancient world war II battleship after you've refitted her for space? Yes, the second trailer for the live action Space Battleship Yamato movie is upon us. The boy wizard is back and things are getting dark over at Hogwarts. Here's the first big trailer for the new movie. BBC has revealed to SFcrowsnest.com the final 11 monsters which will be taking to the stage and touring the UK as part of their first production of Doctor Who Live. One of the problems with the creeping passage of time is that we no longer get cool world war two movies. Okay, there has been a couple from Clint, Flags of our Fathers etc, but generally speaking, they're a dying art. Then, along comes Iron Sky, where Nazis flee to the moon in 1945 in rockets, then re-invade Earth in 2018. Susan Howe, Rights Director at Orion, has sold US rights in three novels by Finnish science fiction novelist, resident in Scotland, Hannu Rajaniemi to Patrick Nielsen Hayden of Tor pre-emptively, in a new deal. Kate Lyall Grant, commissioning editor at Severn House, has acquired two new horror novels from Chaz Brenchley. The Predator reboot by our Robert Rodriguez moves on apace with another new trailer. Definitely not one for the kids, though, with enough bullets and blood to satisfy even a Frank Miller comic-book fan. Some steampunks have guns, some guns have steampunks, and then, some steampunks go tooled up with Colonel J. Fizziwig's glorious steamed up weaponry. The first trailer for the new Green Hornet movie stings its way onto the internet. A rich playboy learns to fight crime. The Asian-sidekick was never going to be Bruce Lee, but then who is? Graham McNeill, is this year's winner of the David Gemmell Legend Award for his Time of Legends novel, Empire. On Friday, at the Magic Circle Headquarters in London, authors and industry professionals gathered for the awards ceremony, which was to celebrate the importance of fantasy fiction, and promote the genre. Terry Pratchett first developed his vision of a chain of parallel worlds, The Long Earth, in an unfinished novel and two short stories in 1986, after writing Equal Rites, the third novel in what would turn into his Discworld series. What do you get when Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Fletch from Lesbian Vampire Slayers clash? Why, some fine trash talking of course. Watch the strange clash between actors Sir Patrick Stewart and James Corden here. The BBC’s Doctor Who spinoff series, Torchwood, is coming back, and they’ve gone global, baby. Both in real life, with backing from Starz Entertainment - the US media giant better known to scifi fans as the creators of the new blood, sand and totty TV series, Spartacus - as well as with their plot. The final trailer, pre-release, for the live action movie version of the fantasy film, The Last Airbender. Plenty of elemental action as the Fire Nation gets rowdy.
