Game on at GenCon
05/12/2003 Source: Jessica Martin

North America's largest RPG con opens next week with Val Kilmer (Batman Forever) and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca).

The inaugural Gen Con So Cal kicks off next week in Anaheim, California (December 11th-14th, 2003).

The impressive entertainment line-up features actors Val Kilmer (Batman Forever and Willow), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), Richard Herd (V, Seaquest, Star Trek Voyager), and Daniel Logan (young Boba Fett in Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones).

They'll join William Shatner (Star Trek), Dirk Benedict (Battlestar Galactica, The A-Team), Herbert Jefferson, Jr. (Battlestar Galactica), Richard Hatch (Battlestar Galactica) Jerry Doyle (Babylon 5), Virginia Hey (Farscape), Jason Carter (Babylon 5), Richard Biggs (Babylon 5) and Robin Atkin-Downes (Babylon 5, Star Wars: Bounty Hunter) to round out the celebrity guests on hand at Gen Con So Cal for meeting fans and signing autographs.

Also added to Gen Con So Cal will be a special performance by the - somewhat self-proclaimed - "science fiction rock gods" Warp 11.

Warp 11 will perform Saturday, December 13th at 7.00pm, immediately following Gen Con's costume contest. Warp 11 mixes original rock music with humorous sci-fi antics featuring Star Trek musical spoofs. Warp 11 will be featured in Paramount Pictures' upcoming Star Trek fan documentary sequel "Trekkies 2," and can be heard nationally on the Dr. Demento radio show.

Gen Con So Cal (that's Southern California, for non-Yanks) will feature 1000 gaming events and 130 RPG exhibitors, including Microsoft, Wizards of the Coast, Upper Deck, AEG, Vivendi Entertainment, Lucas Arts, and a life-sized Dungeons & Dragons adventure.

Gen Con So Cal will be open to the public daily beginning Thursday, December 11 through Sunday, December 14. Gaming events are offered 24 hours a day, and the Exhibit Hall is open from 10.00am - 6.00pm.

The convention takes place in the Anaheim Convention Center, with on site registration fees are as follows: Four-day admission: $55 or one-day admission: $20.

Children 8 years of age and under receive complimentary admission if accompanied by a paying adult.
