Between a Roc and a Hard Place 17/11/2003 . Source: Jessica Martin
Jenny Heddle takes over Roc as Laura Anne leaves. Laura Anne Gilman, that rather respected editor over at SFF imprint 'Roc' is joining the trail of publishing types who are swapping the roles of gamekeeper and poacher ... to whit leaving to pursue a writing career.
L.A.G has an impressive track record of editing on titles such as 'Otherwere' and has previously written media tie-in novels such as Poltergeist: The Legacy as L. A. Liverakos. Now that she's scribing fulltime, no doubt her agent, Jennifer Jackson of the Donald Maass Literary Agency, is going to be kept extra busy.
Jenny 'Jen' Heddle is gamely stepping into Laura Anne's shoes, so would-be authors wishing to suck up to the editorial talent of Roc should in future send their chocolates to Jen (Hershey's Special Dark is said to be a particular favourite when the sugar craving strikes).
Of course, given that Jen is co-creator of the Cynical Girl comic-strip, you might expect a certain amount of, well, cynicism, when sending in such bribes.
Thanks to the suits at Penguin Putnam, Roc haven't even got a web site of their own, so you might as well surf on over to www.cynicalgirlcomic.com.
