New Animated Dr Who 14/11/2003 . Source: Jessica Martin
Richard E Grant, Sophie Okonedo and Sir Derek Jacobi star in an all new animated Doctor Who series, Scream of the Shalka, available free from the BBCi. Yes, it's true, Richard E Grant stars in the Ninth Doctor's debut adventure on the BBC web site.
Emboldened by the publicity they gained for announcing the new live action Who due to hit the screens in a few year's time - and made to coincide with the show's 40th anniversary - the Beeb have jollied along a whole new Flash-based cartoon series into life.
Grant, better known as the star of films such as Withnail and I has apparently described his new role as everyone's favourite Timelord as "Sherlock Holmes in Space".
There's been no official word yet about who will fill the seat of the new live action 'Who', but as we scooped last month, Bill Nighy is still tipped as the front runner.
The new toon series will be 85 minutes long, and is being drip fed over six episodes (finishing December 2003) and is called 'The Scream of the Shalka'.
