Forbidden Planet goes to Another World 28/10/2003 . Source: Jessica Martin
The UK's five 'Another World' stores are purchased by Forbidden Planet International. Forbidden Planet International has acquired the chain of five 'Another World' shops in the UK's Midlands region, with the aim of making them an integrated part of the FPI chain of stores.
FPI's Financial director Richard Boxall told the 'Nest: "Forbidden Planet International are very pleased with this team-up, as 'Another World' joining our group has always been a long term goal of ours."
We know that the combining of the stores will lead to a broader range of stock in all our stores as we combine the expertise of the two groups built up over 27 years in the trade."
We expect that this will lead to more stores bearing the 'new' stock mix; which will contain items such as video games both new and part-exchange, and more apparal lines featuring music acts and other products which have long been part of the 'Another' World range."
For our part we hope to make the comics and science-fiction offerings made by 'Another World' much wider using our contacts in the comics and sci-fi field."
This gives Forbidden Planet an increased presence in the Midlands and we intend to expand this stock mix into more towns around the country in the future. We are particularly pleased to be able to bring 'Another Worlds' gaming expertise in-house as our customers have been asking us to stock video games for years, as the crossover between comics, sci-fi and gaming continues to increase."
We now feel we will be able to make an excellent offering to video game fans and increase the number of people who will want to shop at Forbidden Planet. FPI will have more announcements to make on how the combined stores will change as we go forward."
Any suppliers who wish to make new contacts in the combined group should contact Polly Taylor in the UK on +44(0)1708 372727.
