24/10/2003 Source: Jessica Martin

This weekend see Apollo, aka Richard Hatch, kick off Galacticon 2003 in California. Battlestar fans are already landing their Vipers.

Battlestar Galactica's Apollo, actor Richard Hatch and a group of dedicated Galactica fans have come together to create Galacticon 2003: The Fans' 25th Anniversary Salute to the Cast, Producers and Crew of Battlestar Galactica. This con will be held at the Sheraton Universal Hotel in Universal City, California October 24th-26th, 2003.

According to Hatch, "Our goal is to bring together the largest gathering of Battlestar Galactica actors, producers, writers and crew members that have ever been assembled. This event will honor and celebrate the science fiction classic that has touched the hearts of so many fans around the world."

Convention highlights will include a weekend of panel sessions, autograph signings, dance parties, video and costume contests, and other late night events with Glen Larson (creator, writer), Richard Hatch (Apollo), Dirk Benedict (Starbuck), Anne Lockhart (Sheba), Noah Hathaway (Boxey), Jack Stauffer (Bojay), Patrick Macnee (Count Iblis), Terry Carter (Colonel Tigh), Sarah Rush (Rigel), Jane Seymour (Serina), Stu Phillips (Composer), among other cast members, guest stars, production staffers, writers, book authors and crew members.

The weekend kicks off on Thursday, October 23rd with a pre-event special feature: a midnight screening of the original Battlestar Galactica motion picture at the IMAX theatre at CityWalk. This screening is open to the Hollywood community and will be hosted by Hatch and other attending celebrity guests.

Friday night features presentations of SciFi's new Battlestar Galactica series by Executive Producer Ron Moore and a 25-Year Galactica Retrospective by Battlestar Galactica's creator Glen Larson. Additional presentations by the Directors of Universal Studios new Battlestar Galactica DVD Special Edition Set and Vivendi Universal Games Battlestar Galactica PlayStation2 and Xbox game creator and cast are also featured.

Among the Saturday evening events is the "Galacticon Live" dinner show and celebrity roast featuring satirical skits, musical performances, video clips, a special tribute to creator Glen Larson, and a memorial to the late John Colicos (Baltar), Lorne Greene (Adama), Lloyd Bridges (Cain) and Fred Astaire (Chameleon).

"This once-in-a-lifetime event is of interest to anyone who loves and cherishes Battlestar Galactica, and won't want to miss this introspective, humorous and profoundly moving event," enthused our Hatch.

A charity auction to benefit the Ride-On Therapeutic Riding Center (www.rideon.org), assisting children and adults with disabilities, will also be hosted during the weekend of events.
