Sawyer Says 23/09/2003 . Source: Jessica Martin
Author Robert J. Sawyer leads this week's line-up on the Sci-Fi Overdrive radio show. Coming your way on the 29th September 2003, here's this week's Sci-Fi Overdrive schedule from our favorite US-based SFF radio show.
Hour 1 (2am ET): SF news and commentary, including the Weekly World News world news of the week with your hosts Joey Donovan, David Durica, Erich Landstrom, Lauren Urban, and Charles Blake.
Hour 2 (3am ET): Interview with science fiction author Robert J. Sawyer. Sawyer has sold seventeen science fiction novels to major New York publishers, and won twenty-nine national and international writing awards. His "The Terminal Experiment" won the Nebula Award (the "Academy Award" of the science fiction field) for Best Novel of the Year, and his "Hominids" won the Hugo Award for Best Novel of the Year.
Hour 3 (4am ET): Interview with Michael Stevens of Hollywood is Calling, and soap opera star Kelly Monaco.
Hollywood Is Calling is a new service which allows you to purchase a live and personalized celebrity phone call from sci-fi stars such as Lou Ferrigno (The Incredible Hulk TV series), Peter Jurasik (Babylon 5), John De Lancie (Star Trek: Next Generation), Tim Russ (Star Trek: Voyager), Alexis Cruz (Stargate: SG-1), and astronaut Rick Searfoss.
Kelly Monaco was a self-proclaimed tomboy. She then moved to Los Angeles and began modeling for Playboy. Monaco segued into feature films soon after, followed by her first soap job, as Livvie in "Port Charles."
In 2001, Monaco's alter ego was thrown into the sudser's most popular storyline to date, the vampire saga, with leading man Michael Easton (Caleb). With PC's cancellation, Monaco has landed a contract role on "General Hospital." Although her character has yet to be revealed (she won't be Livvie, the vampire), she begins airing in early October.
Hour 4 (5am ET): Interview with Leslie Lowes, lead outreach coordinator for NASA's Galileo mission. The Galileo spacecraft ended its life by taking a final plunge into the planet Jupiter's crushing atmosphere, concluding the mission on Sunday, September 21, 2003.
The spacecraft had been purposely put on a collision course with Jupiter to eliminate any chance of an unwanted impact between the spacecraft and Jupiter's moon Europa, which Galileo discovered is likely to have a subsurface ocean. Also The "Sci Sky" with Stuart Goldman, associate editor of the essential magazine of astronomy Sky And Telescope.
Sci-Fi Overdrive is heard Monday mornings (2-6am EDT, 11pm-3am PDT, 7-11am BST, 4-8pm AEST) USA-wide over 23 affiliate stations of the Business Talk Radio network and streamed over the Internet using Windows Media Player. (All times are local)
