A Sidewise Look 05/09/2003 . Source: Jessica Martin
The judges for the Sidewise Awards for Alternate History fiction have announced the winners of this year's awards. The awards - technically the 2002 awards, although they are of course presented in 2003 - were given at TorCon, the 61st World Science Fiction Convention, in Toronto on Sunday, August 31st 2003.
Interestingly, there was a tie on the novels this year for:
Martin J. Gidron's 'The Severed Wing' (Livingston Press).
Harry Turtledove's 'Ruled Britannia' (NAL/Roc).
While the short story prize went to:
William Sanders' 'Empire' In 'Alternate Generals II' (Baen Books).
Good old Harry Turtledove seems to have come to dominate the parallel reality niche, as he was also the editor of the 'Alternate Generals II' anthology.
