The Bruchetta's on Heinlein 01/08/2003 . Source: Jessica Martin
You too can attend the inaugural presentation of the newly-created Heinlein Awards. Those wild party animals at this year's World SF convention, TorCon3, are playing host to the new Heinlein Awards.
For those not in the know, the awards are presented by a panel of judges for excellence in writing science fact or fact that inspires humanity's expansion into space.
This year's judges are Greg Bear, Joe Haldeman, Yoji Kondo, Elizabeth Moon, Larry Niven, Jerry Pournelle, Spider Robinson, Stanley Schmidt, Herb Gilliand, and John Hill. The late Charles Sheffield was also a founding judge for this award.
As many as possible will be at the dinner themselves. So will a large number of other luminaries of the SFF community.
Cocktails and reception beginning at 6.00pm, Friday, August 29th 2003, at Joe Badali's Italian Ristorante, 156 Front Street West, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, one block east of Torcon3 headquarters.
Dinner kicks off at 7.00pm sharp with a choice of wine provided courtesy of The Heinlein Society. All other beverages are on a no-host bar basis.
The night of revelry includes a dessert, welcome, awards presentation, and concluding remarks with an audio visual presentation after the Awards.
Tickets are $75 (US) until August 23, 2003. If available, late reservations at the Con or at the door will be $100 (US). Dosh is in advance, payable to The Heinlein Society, Attn.: The Heinlein Awards Dinner, PO Box 1254, Venice, California 90294-1254 USA, or you may reserve and order via PayPal or PayByCheck here.
Direct any questions to their Secretary, David Silver, at secretary@heinleinsociety.org or telephone him on 310-399-0310.
