China Miéville on Sept 04 episode of Fast Forward 17/09/2004 . Source: Jessica Martin
UK author China Miéville is interviewed on this month's episode of Fast Forward: Contemporary Science Fiction. Miéville talks about metaphor, monsters and politics, and how they all fit into his latest novel, Iron Council. In conversation with host Tom Schaad, Miéville discusses our society's obsession with turning even minor criminals into "monsters." According to Miéville, "What I wanted to do in these books was investigate a society which takes that metaphor of the monstrous and literalizes it."
The September 2004 episode of Fast Forward also features Colleen Cahill's review of the novel The Grand Crusade, by Michael A. Stackpole.
In addition, there is a special interview with Roberta Stevens of the Library of Congress, who provides information about the National Book Festival, to be held October 9th (www.loc.gov/bookfest).
